Clive Nicoli and Elsa Kast are genius scientists, whose drastic experiments in genetics makes them their profession's biggest superstars. Dedication for their career and to each other makes them do experiments with new and hope giving animal species. When pharmaceutial company that funds their research, N.E.R.D. known as Nucleic Exchange Research & Development stops funding them. Being impatient and not wanting to wait more years for research, couple decides to blend human DNA with one of their creatures. After having an arguement about the hybrid, Elsa convinces Clive to go along with it and swears on secrecy. They name a creature after N.E.R.D., Dren, who's complishment beyond dreams. She starts to grow and learn very fast. Being afraid Dren discovers increases, they move Dren to Elsa mother's farm. Elsa and Clive's work at the company suffers as most of their attention gets Dren. After a while, Elsa's bond to Dren turns maternal, but she quickly changes her mind after Dren shows violent behavior toward her pet cat. Elsa cuts off Dren's stinger and uses organic tissue from it to isolate and synthesize protein they have been searching for. When Clive goes to visit Dren, she welcomes him with a kiss. Feeling wrong about it, Clive tries to push her off, explaining it's not right thing to do. Dren feels offended and when he tries to comfort her with a hug, they start kissing again and end up having an intercourse. Elsa steps into the farm and sees Dren and Clive having sex, she runs off, Clive tries to stop her and do explaining, but fails. Arriving home, Clive tries to talk himself out of it, but Elsa is disgusted with his behavior and sees it as cheating. Elsa and Clive get into huge fight, they scream at each other, but make a compromise - the experiment  has to end since it's gotten out of control. They visit Dren in the farm and realize she is sick again. Thinking she is dead, they bury her in front of the farm house. Before Elsa and Clive get to leave the farm house, Clive's brother Gavin arrive there with their boss from pharmaceutical company. He has figured out a sample Elsa gave him had human DNA in it and wishes to see the creature they've been hiding. Suddenly Dren attacks all of them, killing Elsa and Clive's boss and attacking Gavin. Looking for Gavin, they realize Dren has changed her gender to male. Clive jumps into the water to find Dren and Gavin, Elsa saves him. Dren comes out of the water and Elsa tries to run away from the male version of Dren, but fails. Elsa tries to attack him, but ends being raped. By the end of the fight for their lives, Clive and male Dren end up dead. Later Elsa sits in pharmaceutical company's office and is given a great amount of money inexchange for her silence about the experiment she and Clive did. Elsa stands up and reveals she is pregnant with Dren's baby.
