Carmen, Tibby, Bridget and Lena have been best friends since childhood, on their last day together, girls go shopping and find a pair of pants that fits all of them despite their different measurements. Girls buy the jeans and make a pact - since they're leaving hometown for summer expect Tibby, they share the pants to keep their friendship alive. Lena is spending her summer in Greece with her grandparents, Bridget is going to soccer camp in Mexico and Carmen is visiting her father in South Carolina. When Carmen arrives with her dad to new home, she gets a part of a bad suprise - her father has a new family with new kids and shocks her with announcement of a new marriage. Carmen complains to her mother how her father has changed so much that she doesn't recognize him anymore. Lena is getting used Greece and by accident meets a local Greek boy, Kostas Dounas who came to work in his grandfather's boat. When Kostas lets Lena know her interest about her, she is pushing him down for a while until she finds out her and Kostas's family are sworn enemies. For getting a video equipment, Tibby gets a job at department store. On her working day there, she finds a fainted girl and calls an ambulance for her. The next day the girl, Bailey Graffman visits Tibby at her house. Bailey seems to be interested in Tibby's documental movie and offers her help as an assistant to her. Bridget arrives to soccer camp in Baja California,
Mexico, where she grows a crush on one of her coaches, Eric Richman. Though Tibby is not happy with Bailey hanging out with her, but lets her be the assistant of a documentary. Lena tries to keep herself off from Kostas's company since she's afraid of her grandparents fury, but decides to give her and Kostas a chance. Bridget sneaks out to a bar to meet with Eric, but he pushes her away. Carmen runs away from the dress fitting when her dress is made too tight and wearing it makes her feel very uncomfortable. In the evening she takes a taxi to get back to the house and finds her father's new family having a happy dinner without her, which makes her feel hurt, angry and she kicks the window in with the stone. After that she calls Tibby, letting her know she's coming home and rides back home by bus. When Bridget get the pair of jeans for using, she puts them on and heads to the beach, hoping to meet Eric there. Lena and Kostas spend their last night together in a dancing bar, only to get caught by their both grandparents. Lena convinces her grandfather that deserves a chance at love with Kostas and he approves. Carmen arrives back to her hometown and meets up with Lena. In the meantime Tibby found that Bailey has leukemia and started avoid her. Carmen encourages her to talk to her, so Tibby visits Bailey in the hospital, some time later Bailey dies. Bridget rides back to her home town by bus, feeling sad. She lost her virginity to Eric, but it wasn't like she imagined it would be. Tibby and Carmen meets up with Bridget at her place and Bridget confesses she still hasn't over her mother's death and misses her every day. The next morning dog Maggie steals the pants and runs away, Bridget chasing after her until she sees that Eric catched Maggie and gived the jeans back to her. Girls go to greet Lena in the airport, who's coming back from Greece. Tibby, Bridget and Lena convince Carmen to take part of her father's wedding and though she doesn't like the idea at first, all girls take a car and head up to the wedding.
