A married couple Maria and Michael are in India, Mumabi at one restaurant, Maria suprises her husband with unexpected
pregnancy. Later couple have a serious talk about starting their family in Mumabi. Michael is asking little foreign girl if they should stay there forever. The girl thinks for a while and starts screaming with demon eyes. Maria wakes up in the middle of the night, obiously shocked. Six years later their son, Oliver has died in a tragic accident. The couple is still living in India with a housekeeper Piki and their daughter, Lucy. When Piki lets Michael know Maria has a migraine and called it a night, Michael goes to check on her and finds she's not breathing. While she fights for her life, Maria gets flashbacks from the accident, where Oliver died under the water. Piki offers Maria a chance to say goodbye to Oliver
through a ritual. Pipi explains her a ritual, Oliver can be talked with through the temple door, but must not open the temple door for him. The next day Maria goes to the temple and follows Piki's instructions. Night falls and she gets a chance to talk to Oliver - she apologizes to Oliver for leaving him into the water, but he starts talking about somebody taking him, Maria panicks and opens the door, but doesn't see anyone. Gotten back home, she feels have found closure from talking to her dead son. Suddenly strange and even nightmarish things start to happen - piano starts playing itself, in Oliver's room, his favorite book The Jungle Book starts to move. Piki notices that plants are starting to die and realizes Maria has disobeyed her instructions in the temple. Maria discovers a bite mark on Lucy's shoulder while giving her a bath and realizes it was Oliver, who did this. Insulted Piki confronts Maria and reveals the strange figure she has been seeing, is The Gate Keeper, who wants to repossess the soul of the dead. Piki gives Maria good advice to burn all Oliver's possessions to break his connection to the living world. When Piki tries to burn Oliver's belongings, she hears a voice of her dead daughter. At the same time, Lucy, Michael and Maria arrive home. Michael is confused when he sees Oliver's things in black trash
bags, Maria approaches the bond and sees Piki's body, drowned under the water. Michael sees Oliver's things burning and tries to stop the fire with her leg, Maria tries to explain it to him his belongings have to burn to ashes, but he doesn't listen and thinks Maria has lost finally has lost her mind. Michael locks Maria in the room and takes Lucy with her. Maria escapes from the room and sees colored chanting all over Lucy. Oliver appears through Lucy's body and begs Maria, but she convinces him he has to go and leave his sister's body. Michael is hold down by chanting men and one of them stabs Maria with a knife. Maria is taken to the other side to be with Oliver, leaving Michael and Lucy to mourn. Maria wakes up on the stairs at the temple, where Michael is trying to make connection with her.
