Ben Cronin is a star swimmer at his high school and is pressured by his coach Simkins to deliver when scouts come to watch him compete in a week. On school and swimming free time Ben works at a hospital and is in perfect relationship with Amy Miller. Pressure in their relationship begins slowly when they both are leaving for college soon and aren't sure they end up in the same school. Ben meets a new girl in school, Madison Bell, who has trouble with opening her locker. He helps him open the locker with her hair pain. Ben and Madison start to socialize. They go to dinner together and talking about their lives. Madison tries flirting with him, but Ben makes clear he has a girlfriend, Madison seems to be accepting that fact, but not for long - they go to school's swimming pool and Ben tries teaching her swimming. Madison is acting very flirty and encourages him to have intercouse with her. At first Ben get away, but eventually gives up on her charms and sleeps with her in the water. After the intercourse Ben realizes Madison won't leave him alone - she visits her mother
and attempts to talk to him online with username swimfan85. When an old patient, who Ben gives medications to, almost dies and he gets fired because of it, he is sure Madison is behind it. In a blind rage, he storms into school, in a room, where Madison plays cello, grabs her throat and threatens her to leave him alone. Hoping Madison got his message, he tries concernrate on swimming and his girlfriend, Amy. The next morning everyone at school knows about his one night stand with Madison, also Amy, who slaps him in the face and leaves with tears in her eyes. Ben goes for a swim in school's pool and finds his friend, Josh's dead body floating in the water. Police pay a visit to Ben, letting him know the bat, with what Josh was killed, has his fingerprints on it. Ben decides to expose Madison's intentions by visiting her room. He's discovered by Christopher, who gives him a box with articles about sport star Jake Donnelly, who was almost killed in accident and Madison was in the same accident, but survived. Madison is dressed up as a nurse in the hospital, with knife in her pocket, suddenly she hears Jake's name, the guy she was in the accident with. She sees Jake and follows him to the garage. Jake turns around and she realizes it's not joke, but Chris in Jake's jacket. Madison attacks him with a scalpel, suddenly Ben stops her and holds the weapon on her throat. She confesses Josh's murder and then sees Ben's friend, Rene, who recorded every word she said. Police arrives just in time and arrests Madison. Ben arrives home and finds out Madison has escaped from the hands of police and attacked his mother. Ben heads to school's pool, where he finds Madison and Amy, tied up in a chair. Madison's patience ends and she pushes Amy into the water, with a chair. Ben jumps under the water and frees Amy with Madison's hair pin. Ben pushes Madison into the pool and pushes Amy out from the water. He starts doing CPR on her. When Amy is breathing normal again, they look into the pool and realize Madison has drowned.
